What is DHEA?

DHEA is a critical component to jumpstarting an individual’s hormonal balance.  DHEA, short for Dehydroepiandrosterone is a natural precursor hormone secreted by the adrenal glands. The average adult produces approximately 25mg of DHEA daily.  Natural production of DHEA is at its highest when we are in our twenties.  By the time we are seventy, our body produces about 20% of what we had in our twenties.

What does DHEA do?

DHEA is a powerful precursor to all of our major sex hormones such as Testosterone, Progesterone and Estrogen. It is often referred to as the“mother” hormone and is the source responsible for fuelling the body’s metabolic pathway.

What happens when DHEA levels decrease?

When DHEA levels are low, your body’s endocrine function begins to slow down.  This in turn, throws off our hormonal productions and can cause the following symptoms:

  • Extreme Fatigue
  • Decrease in Muscle Mass
  • Decrease in Bone Density
  • Depression
  • Aching Joints
  • Loss of Libido
  • Lowered Immunity

Simply adding DHEA replacemnt therapy to the equation is not the answer. DHEA replacement therapy should  be part of a doctor recommended full-spectrum hormone replacement program.

To gain from the full benefits DHEA, all of your hormones must be in balance!   Simply raising the levels of one doesn’t ensure all symptoms or ailments will cease.
